Otherwise know as unagi donburi. That's what Calvin made for dinner last night. It was super easy and was better than some restaurants. Here's how he did it:
1. Last Sunday, he purchased eel from the frozen foods section of the Farmer's Market off Buford Hwy that is right outside I-285. Also, some of the special BBQ eel sauce. (We already had the Japanese pepper at home.)
2. Follow instructions on back of eel package- but basically, he baked it in the oven at 350ยบ, then poured the BBQ sauce on top.
3. While the eel was baking, Calvin had sushi rice getting ready in the rice cooker.
4. Put large scoop of rice in bowl, lay eel on top with some sauce, and then sprinkle with the Japanese pepper.
Next time, some edamame as an appetizer would be good, and I'd love to get some of those little Japanese pickles to eat with the unagi. Calvin thinks he can find them, so I'll post an update the next time we have this for dinner.
